Receptionist now Chief Compliance Officer
From the age of 18, it seemed that Dejah Krajcar, Chief Compliance Officer of TDC, was destined to work in financial services. For someone who values family, professional growth, and understanding risk, it was an ideal career track.
“I’m passionate about financial services because I truly believe that we provide an immense value to those that are willing to embrace it,” Dejah says. “I’ve been in this industry for so long that I’ve seen the effects and the benefits that we provide to clients, even here in my short time [at TDC].”
Beginning as a receptionist and then an assistant to financial advisors, Dejah became client facing for a short time herself. In working with clients, Dejah realized that she favored the rules and operations side of the business.
“I would spend most of my time over-disclosing the information to make sure that everybody was thoroughly clear on any risks associated with what they were doing. This transparency was especially important to me,” she says.
With her manager’s encouragement, Dejah began working in compliance. There, she found a great fit for her passion and skills in research, her attention to detail, and her commitment to finding answers. However, growth opportunities were often limited at larger, longstanding companies.
“I do like to have a career path and want to grow, and there were certain curbs in place at a corporate level that were going to take a lot for me to get through,” Dejah says. “And it wasn’t for a lack of them wanting to provide it to me, it was the fact that there just wasn’t anything available.”
A friend who was interviewing with TDC encouraged Dejah to look into the company. She researched TDC and met with leadership to learn more about the available opportunities.
As a mother, Dejah understands the challenges of raising a family, and making the right decisions, financial and otherwise. While she was attracted to the growth opportunities at TDC, she also wanted a workplace that could accommodate her family’s needs. TDC’s leadership won her over with their flexibility and emphasis on family.
Dejah also found out just how quickly opportunities arise at TDC, when she transitioned from Director to Chief Compliance Officer shortly after joining.
When asked what she would tell others about working at TDC, Dejah says, “I would tell them that if you put in the effort, there’s always opportunities here. They reward those that work hard and are committed to each other. We all care about each other here. We want to see everybody be successful.”
